Objective

How to determine what agent version is being installed from an agent installer .MSI file. This is particularly useful when there are multiple agent installer versions in use.

Resolution

To determine what agent version is being installed, please follow the below steps:
  1. Using 7zip, or a similar utility, extract the contents of the agent installer .MSI file to a location of your choice.
  2. After extracting the contents of the .MSI file, look for the .CAB file that will be titled "Data1" or similar name.
  3. Extract the contents of the "Data" .CAB file to a location of your choice.
  4. After extracting the contents of the "Data" .CAB file, look for the "Parity.exe" file.
  5. Right click on "Parity.exe", and then left click on "Properties".
  6. In the Properties for "Parity.exe", see the "Details" tab of the "Properties" window.
