App Control: Server upgrade fails with installer pop-up error "App Control Connector service could not be stopped" (Check Point)

Environment

App Control Server: 8.8 and Higher

Symptoms

Carbon Black App Control connector for check point service still exists in windows services.

Error message contents:
  •     Carbon black app control connector service could not be stopped
  •     Uninstall might leave some files behind
  •     There were fatal errors while installing
  •     Installation failed

Cause

This is left over remnants from failed upgrade, the App Control upgrade installer could not properly stop the check point connector service.

Resolution

As an administrator on the app control server:
  1.     Launch powershell
  2.     Run cmdlet
    sc.exe delete ConnectorCP
  3.     Confirm app control check point connector service has been removed by browsing windows services

Additional Notes

App Conntrol check point connector is End-of-Life.
