App Control: Unable to Create Agent Installation Files

App Control: Unable to Create Agent Installation Files

Environment

  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Console: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • Trusted Directory has been configured for the /hostpkg/ directory
  • Setting any of the following parameters to 'true' in /shepherd_config.php page will revert back to 'false' within a few minutes:
    • GenerateWindowsInstaller
    • GenerateMacInstaller
    • GenerateRedHatInstaller

Cause

Due to the 'hostpkg' directory being designated as a Trusted Directory the App Control Agent is attempting to crawl the installation files being created.

Resolution

Remove 'hostpkg' directory from Trusted Directory list:
  1. Log in to the Console and navigate to Rules > Software Rules > Directories.
  2. Click Show Filters > Path > contains: hostpkg
  3. Click View Details (pencil icon) > Disabled > Save & Exit.
  4. Navigate to https://ServerAddress/shepherd_config.php and change the relevant property to true:
    • GenerateWindowsInstaller
    • GenerateMacInstaller
    • GenerateRedHatInstaller
