CB Response: How to install a beta or hotifx Mac sensor .pkg file on a single endpoint

CB Response: How to install a beta or hotifx Mac sensor .pkg file on a single endpoint

Environment

  • CB Response Sensor: All Versions
  • Mac OS CB Response Sensor: All Versions
  • Mac OS: All Supported Versions

Objective

Explains how to install a beta or hotfix Mac sensor on a single endpoint with the .pkg installer, instead of downloading a branded package from the CB Response Server

Resolution

  1. Copy the .pkg file to a folder on the Mac endpoint where it will be installed
  2. Ensure the Sensor Group Setting for this host’s upgrade settings is set to “manual” in the WebUI
  3. From the appropriate Sensor group page in the UI, download the relevant OSX Standalone PKG
  4. Extract the sensorsettings.ini from the .zip file and place it in the same directory as the beta/hotfix sensor .pkg file on the Mac endpoint
  5. Install the .pkg and the Sensor will be upgraded to this specific version:
    installer -pkg CarbonBlackClientSetup-osx-v6.2.6.90808.pkg -target /
