Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud macOS Sensor: 3.5.1
  • Apple macOS: 11.x Big Sur

Objective

To increase the timeout value of the system extension pop-up window using cbcloud_install_unattended.sh on macOS Big Sur. 

Resolution

Run the cbcloud_install_unattended.sh script with the extend-approval-timeout boolean enabled:
sudo ./docs/cbcloud_install_unattended.sh -i "./CBCloud Install.pkg" -c '{installation code}' --extend-approval-timeout=1

Additional Notes

  • This time-window defaults to a short time (3 seconds) when using the cbcloud_install_unattended.sh script as the script is intended for use in a managed-device environment. 
  • --extend-approval-timeout=1 is a boolean value.
  • Once enabled, this will extend the pop-up window to 60 seconds.
  • The 60-second value cannot be edited. 
  • This timeout will be removed entirely beginning with macOS Sensor 3.5.2 and later.
