Carbon Black and OS-level proxy operability

Carbon Black and OS-level proxy operability

Version

All versions of Carbon Black.

Issue

An OS-level proxy will prevent regularly scheduled tasks used to manage the Carbon Black server from executing as as designed.

Symptoms

This will vary, but a common symptom is performance issues due to the purge cronjob not executing.

Solution

You can verify if an OS-level proxy is configured by running the below commands on your Carbon Black server (and all minions, if applicable).

cat /etc/environment

set | grep -i proxy

printenv | grep -i proxy

If a proxy is configured, please work with your System Administrator to disable the proxy.

Important Note(s)

To configure a proxy for Alliance server or YUM connectivity, please review our How to configure a web proxy document.
