Cb Defense: How to Find the VDF Version in a Local Mirror Server (Windows)

Environment

  • Cb Defense Windows Sensor: 2.0.1.x and above
  • Local Mirror Server OS: Windows

Objective

How to confirm the latest downloaded VDF version in a Local Mirror Server

Resolution

  1. Make sure the latest VDF files are downloaded into the Local Mirror Server (Cb Defense: How To Set Up A Local Mirror for AV Signature Updates )
  2. Open the newly created folder "idx" (NOT the "idx" folder in the directory AV Signature Update go to) in the location you run the command to execute "do_update.bat". (if you are following the instruction in Cb Defense: How To Set Up A Local Mirror for AV Signature Updates , the "idx" folder should be in the same folder of the extracted files from the downloaded zip file)
  3. You should see "module-vdf.info" in "idx" folder, open it, and you should find the VDF information like release
    • Date of the latest update, for example:

<VdfDate value="20180709_0000"/>

    • Version of the latest update, for example:

<VERSION value="8.14.61.54"/>

Additional Notes

The "module-vdf.info" file will be updated every time run the command to execute "do_update.bat", and the latest VDF information will also be updated.
