Cb Defense: What Happens to AV Signature Update if Local Mirror is Unavailable?

• Cb Defense Sensor: Versions 2.0.x and above

• Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Question

What will happen to AV signature update if local mirror is unavailable or removed from policy settings?

Answer

• If the default update server URL (https://community.carbonblack.com/) is still listed in the policy settings, sensor will use that to download signature updates.
• If the default update server is removed from policy settings and no mirror server is available, sensor will not update AV signatures; This will not produce any warning to Administrator.

Additional Notes

Keep the default update server URL (https://community.carbonblack.com/) in the policy settings if your environment permits downloading of AV signature updates from the internet. This will help ensure your devices continue to receive latest AV signature updates in the event that local mirror becomes unavailable or is removed from policy settings for some reason.
