Endpoint Standard: What is the impact for enabling "Private Logging" in the Sensor setting under Policies?

Environment

  • Endpoint Standard (Formerly CB Defense): All supported versions

Question

What is the impact for enabling "Private Logging" in the Sensor setting under Policies?

Answer

  • When Private Logging is enabled, the sensor does not upload a memory dump.
  • Events logged after enabling private logging will protect sensitive details by redacting: fully qualified domain names, URLs, command line arguments, user names, registry data, obfuscating document file names and not resolving IP addresses to correlating domain names.
  • Changing this setting does not affect previous stored data.

Additional Notes

To see the detailed information about the file in alerts, please disable 'Enable private logging level' from the policy.
