XSAN Mounted as Local/Shared Drive crashes in a Mac environment

XSAN Mounted as Local/Shared Drive crashes in a Mac environment

Version:

7.x

Issue:

XSAN shared drive crashes after several Mac endpoints with Bit9 agent are connected to it.

Cause:

The Bit9 agent on each Mac endpoint are simultaneously scanning the XSAN shared drive.

Solution:

If the XSAN shared drive appears as a local drive mount, create a custom rule to exclude file analysis on the XSAN shared drive as files get written.

Rule Type: Performance Optimization

Path or FIle: /Volumes/XDrive

Process: Any process

The Performance Optimization will only ignore writes, but the agent will still analyze and enforce policy for any execution from /Volumes/XDrive.
