App Control: How To Troubleshoot Console Slowness

Environment

• App Control Console: All Supported Versions

Objective

To troubleshoot why the Console is slow or timing out,

Resolution

1. Does the slowness occur when the Console is accessed locally via the App Control server itself? https://127.0.0.1/login.php
   • If not, this would indicate there may be a networking/DNS delay.
2. Check if IIS is being overwhelmed:
   1. Collect and review the IIS Logs.
   2. If Agents are continuously requesting, and failing to receive, files (500/503 errors) follow the steps in the following articles:
      • App Control: Web Console Unavailable Due to IIS 500/503 Errors
      • App Control: Yara Rules Out of Date
      • App Control: How To Troubleshoot Approvals Out of Date
3. Determine if the slowness occurs on a specific page / query.
   • Note that "contains" is a very taxing query. The more specific and targeted the query, the faster the results will be.
   • Consider utilizing Event Caching for complicated queries
4. If the issue persists, collect the logs outlined here:

   • App Control: How to Collect Database Logs for Performance Issues (SQL Server)
