App Control: Package Generation Disabled Due To Sharing Violations

Environment

  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • Relevant Shepherd Config for package generation resets to false.
  • https://ServerAddress/InstallerVersions.php shows Package Generation as Disabled with no version for Agent installers.
  • ServerLog.bt9 shows Error similar to:
    CScriptHost::GenerateHostGroupPackage failed to rename tmp file to msi package.

     

Cause

Some application is causing a sharing violation during package generation.

Resolution

  1. Verify the Server Exclusions are added to all other security products on the application server hosting the Console.
  2. Verify no Trusted Directory exists for the /hostpkg/ directory.
