Carbon Black Cloud: How does confer.log rotate and purge?

Carbon Black Cloud: How does confer.log rotate and purge?

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: 3.5.x.x and Higher
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Question

How large does the confer.log file grow and how does it rotate?

Answer

  • The confer.log file will grow to be 250 MB.
  • Once it reaches that size, it will become a zip file named confer.log.1 and a new, empty confer.log file is created.
  • When the next confer.log file reached 250 MB, confer.log.1 is renamed to confer.log.2.
  • This process repeats until confer.log.20 is created.
  • After confer.log.20 is created, if a new log file is generated, confer.log.20 is removed.
