Carbon Black Cloud: Non-ASCII characters in custom console role name result in error "Your request was unsuccessful"

Symptoms

When a user creates a custom role in the CBC UI and uses non-ASCII characters for the role name, the pages "Endpoints" and "VM Workloads" fail to display with message "Your request was unsuccessful".

Cause

Non-ASCII characters can be saved in 'custom roles' but this affects the correct functioning of related modules.

Resolution

Future enhancements for the UI include a validation added to advise the correct character set allowed for role names.
