Carbon Black Cloud: What Does "This Permission Set May Contain Unversioned APIs" Warning Mean?

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Console: All Versions
  • Carbon Black Cloud APIs

Question

Why do some API Keys (Settings > API Access) have the following warning during and after creation?
This permission set may contain unversioned APIs. Visit developer.carbonblack.com for all currently supported/versioned APIs.

Answer

A User Role (Settings > Roles) has been selected as the Custom Access Level for the API Key displaying the warning and has additional permissions granted to it that are not available to any of the public APIs.

Additional Notes

  • Once an API Key is created, its Access Level Type and Custom Access Level settings will be greyed out and cannot be modified.
  • Access Levels can be created and modified under Settings > API Access > Access Levels.
  • Review the Authentication section from the Carbon Black Cloud API documentation of the desired API for required Access Level permissions.
