Carbon Black Cloud: USB name showing as 'Generic'

Environment

  • Endpoint Standard Web Console: November '20 Release (0.60) and Higher
  • Carbon Black Cloud Windows Sensor: 3.6.0.1897 and Higher

Symptoms

USB name showing as 'Generic'.

Cause

The device could be another type of portable device, such as an external disc reader.

Resolution

Check if any portable device is plugged in the device other than USB.
